2eff368dd0 Cleaned up some of the Fault system.
arch/alpha/ev5.cc:
    Commented out the intr_post function since it's not used. If this really -is- needed, it should be moved into the fault class.
arch/alpha/faults.cc:
arch/alpha/faults.hh:
    Moved the fault invocation code into the fault class fully, and got rid of the need for isA.
cpu/exec_context.cc:
cpu/exec_context.hh:
    Removed the trap function from the ExecContext. The faults will execute normally in full system mode, but always panic in syscall emulation mode.
cpu/ozone/cpu.hh:
cpu/simple/cpu.hh:
    Changed the execution context executing a fault to a fault executing on the execution context.
sim/faults.cc:
    If not in full system mode, trying to invoke a fault causes a panic.
sim/faults.hh:
    Removed the isA function.

26d7b5a4d1 Add quiesceNs, quiesceTime, quiesceCycles, and m5panic pseudo ops.
This changeset removes a check that prevents quiescing when an
interrupt is pending. *** You should only call quiesce if that
isn't a problem. ***

arch/alpha/isa/decoder.isa:
sim/pseudo_inst.cc:
sim/pseudo_inst.hh:
    Add quiesceNs, quiesceCycles, quisceTime and m5panic pseudo ops.
    These quiesce for a number of ns, cycles, report how long
    we were quiesced for, and panic the simulator respectively.
    The latter is added to the panic() function in the console and linux
    kernel instead of executing an infinite loop until someone notices.
cpu/exec_context.cc:
cpu/exec_context.hh:
    Add a quiesce end event to the execution contexted which upon
    executing wakes up a CPU for quiesceCycles/quiesceNs.
util/m5/Makefile:
    Make the makefile more reasonable
util/m5/m5.c:
    update the m5op executable to use the files from the linux tree
util/m5/m5op.S:
    update m5op.S from linux tree
util/m5/m5op.h:
    update m5op.h from linux tree

299efffaf5 Cleaned up and slightly reorganized the Fault class heirarchy.
arch/alpha/ev5.cc:
    Changed c style casts of Faults to dynamic_casts
arch/alpha/faults.cc:
    AlphaFault is now an abstract class.
arch/alpha/faults.hh:
    AlphaFault is now an abstract class. Also, AlphaMachineCheckFault and AlphaAlignmentFault multiply inherit from both AlphaFault and from MachineCheckFault and AlignmentFault respectively. These classes get their name from the generic classes.
cpu/o3/alpha_cpu_impl.hh:
    Changed a c style cast to a dynamic_cast for a Fault
sim/faults.hh:
    All generic Fault classes are now abstract. Also, MachineCheckFault and AlignmentFault inherit FaultBase as a virtual base class to help resolve ambiguities when they are multiply inherited in ISA specific classes. The override the isMachineCheckFault and isAlignmentFault functions appropriately, and provide a standard name for these faults.

b6247c9ea7 Add support for multiple ports on the memory. Hook up simple cpu to memory.
Ready to start testing if I could fix the linking errors I can't ever seem to fix.

cpu/simple/cpu.cc:

    Add connecting of ports until builder can handle it.
mem/physical.cc:
    Add function to allocate a port in the object

    Remove some full_sys stuff untill needed

    Add function to allocate a port in the object

    Update the params

    Make sure to use the right name (hopefully CPU constructor already called)

1166d4f0bf Get rid of the xc from the alphaAccess/alphaConsole backdoor device.
Now allocate an array of stacks indexed by cpu number which specify
cpu stacks and are initialized by cpu 0. Othe cpus spin waiting for
their stacks before continuing. This change *REQUIRES* a the new
console code to operate correctly.

    Add cpuId to initCPU/initIPR functions

    Move the cpu initilization into an init() function since it now needs
    the CPU id which isn't known at construction

    instead of the bootstrap variables, add space for 64 cpu stacks in the
    alpha access structure.

    start all cpus immediately rather than just the first one

4bd11c10a5 Add blocksize functions to physical memory. Fix the port we were using in the process loader.
mem/physical.cc:
    Implement the blockSize function, return VMPageSize for the physical memory
mem/port.hh:
    Add a function to get a pointer to a peer, needed for initVirtMem to work in the loader.
sim/process.cc:
    The way the translating port is setup we don't want the memory port, we want the peer port associated with that memory.  We may need to revisit this.

d96de69abc Add in a new translating port that allows syscalls to translate addresses via the page table before accessing the memory port.

10c79efe55 Changed the fault enum into a class, and fixed everything up to work with it. Next, the faults need to be pulled out of all the other code so that they are only used to communicate between the CPU and the ISA.
SConscript:
    The new faults.cc file in sim allocates the system wide faults. When these faults are generated through a function interface in the ISA, this file may go away.

    Add a pointer to the memPort syscalls will use.  Should this be a proxy_port that does address translation?

19e5efed03 Pseudo instructions are now passed whatever instructions they need by the decoder, rather than extracting them explicitly. This lets most of the pseudo instruction code to be shared across architectures.

2939a7089a byte_swap.hh was removed from arch/alpha/, and replaced by sim/byteswap.hh. The new file uses LittleEndianGuest and BigEndianGuest namespaces to allow selecting the appropriate functions.

93e60de656 Add executable parameter to LiveProcess. This allows the argv[0] value to
stay fixed even if the path to the binary changes, so the simulation results
are independent of that path.

8a0bc84022 Allow CPUs to specify their own CPU ids.
Make the AlphaConsole calculate the number of CPUs instead
of passing that in as a parameter.

cpu/base.cc:
    pass the desired cpu_id into registerExecContext, offsetting it
    by the thread number.  a cpu_id of -1 means that it should be
    generated for you.

    Take the cpu_id as a parameter

22eccce34b Additions/fixes for Tru64 syscall emulation.
We can now run the SimpleScalar wupwise binary
to completion on the test input.
Didn't have time to do more testing, but I fixed
a major problem w/getdirentries that should help
a lot more programs run.

arch/alpha/alpha_tru64_process.cc:
    Add truncate, ftruncate, statfs, and fstatfs.
    Add v4.x (pre-F64) stat, fstat, and lstat.
    Add setsysinfo (though all it does is provide more
    specific warning messages).
    Fix subtle but major bug in getdirentries.
sim/syscall_emul.cc:
sim/syscall_emul.hh:
    Add truncate, ftruncate, statfs, and fstatfs.

5a7ee2b495 Make code more portable and port to cygwin

    getdirent isn't implemented by cygwin.  panic if this function is
    executed.  (It shouldn't be too much to emulate it using opendir,
    readdir, etc.)
arch/alpha/pseudo_inst.cc:
    Use lseek once and read instead pread.
base/intmath.hh:
    we want int, long, and long long variations of FloorLog2 instead
    of int32_t, int64_t.  Otherwise, we leave one out.
base/socket.cc:
    Fix define that seems to be for apple
sim/serialize.cc:
    don't use the intXX_t stuff, instead, use the real types
    so we're sure that we cover all of them.

5eab6c4b41 Make the notion of a global event tick independent of the actual
CPU cycle ticks.  This allows the user to have CPUs of different
frequencies, and also allows frequencies and latencies that are
not evenly divisible by the CPU frequency.  For now, the CPU
frequency is still set to the global frequency, but soon, we'll
hopefully make the global frequency fixed at something like 1THz
and set all other frequencies independently.

    The cycles counter is based on the current cpu cycle.

43a9caa221 expose variables for number of global events per simulated second,
millisecond, microsecond, etc. so that the user can explicitly
convert between system ticks and time and know what sorts of

1b841a871e - Add capability to auto-generate Param structs from
.mpy SimObject descriptions.  Structs are defined
in simobj/param/ObjectName.hh.
- Move compile-time python params (from CPPDEFINES) to
separate dict from run-time params (from os.environ).
The former are needed to generate proper param structs.
This also helps prevent users from messing things up
by setting the wrong environment vars (which could have
overridden compile-time settings in the old system).
- Other misc cleanup of m5 python package.

7d91bda6bf Add support for using the variables that m5 was compiled with for
determining which parameters belong to a class.  This allows us to
remove the disable flag since it is not the correct model
for variable checking anyway.

objects/BaseCPU.mpy:
    Use the FULL_SYSTEM environment variable to enable or disable
    parameters.
sim/pyconfig/m5config.py:
    remove the disable flag since it is not the correct model

4b69debac6 Fix a couple of bugs introduced (or tickled) by the .ini sorting change.
sim/pyconfig/m5config.py:
    Don't sort child nodes, as this can change timing in memory system.
    (Really ought to be fixed in memory system, but we'll just take the
    sort back out for now to avoid intoducing gratuitous changes.)

d191b14ff7 Pass all scons defined pre-processor macro variables to the
python configuration stuff as environment variables.

sim/pyconfig/SConscript:
    generate a python file that updates the env dict with all
    variables in the CPPDEFINES so the python code can use those
    variables in configuration scripts.
